Faster analysis: How long will an analysis take? |
Most analyses have reached convergence within 30 iterations. A tentative guideline is:
length of analysis in minutes = (number of persons)*(length of test)/1,000,000
An analysis of 7000 persons on 2700 items using a 2.5GHz PC with 2GB RAM required 10 minutes.
For a faster analysis,
1.at least 2GB of RAM memory. 4GB is better, see Memory.
2.PRCOMP=NO if you don't want to produce ICORFILE=, PCORFILE=, Table 23 or Table 24
3.DISTR=NO if you don't want distractor/option sub-tables: Table 14.3 etc., DISFILE=
4.SUBSETS=NO if you don't need to check for disjoint subsets in the data
5.PTBIS=SKIP if you don't need point-correlations in Table 13, 18, IFILE=, etc.
6.larger values for the convergence criteria: CONVERGE=, LCONV=, RCONV=, or reduce the maximum number of iterations MJMLE=
7.MPROX=1 if the data are sparse
8.CMATRIX=NO if you do not need the category confusion matrix in Table 3.2, etc.
9.put the input files and the work files on different disk drives, see Edit Initial Settings.
10.put the Windows Temporary Folder on a RAM-type disk (faster access).
